Strummin Along To The Tune of Life

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO WHAT A RIDE!"

CT's Surgery

Well, the surgery is over and it went really great! He is doing GREAT! His Dr's are fabulous. HisDr from Duke university changed the idea of fusing his arm bone to his shoulder bone. Instead he and his Dr from WVU transplanted a donors hip bone into his shoulder. The ball of the hip bone will be the shoulder joint, then used bone marrow taken from his pelvic bone to graft it to the arm & shoulder bones. It is still plated and fused but at least he has the length of his arm still ( the other way would have shortened it by about 2-3 inches), and better strength eventually, and no telling how much movement until the healing and therapy is completed.Dr B believes he will be able to actaully touch the top of his head, which he couldn't do before, so we are pretty excited about it. They also took out the lumpy puckered scar tissue that covered his shoulder. We haven't seen it yet, but they said they smoothed it out giving it a better appearance. Say a prayer that the transplant takes and all goes well. He is getting heavy antibiotics and alot of wonderful care from the staff at WVU. His spirits are terrific! He actually looked better after his surgery then before! Now he just wants to come home. I stayed last night and decided to come home tonight in case they want to keep him again tom. night. Pretty expensvie to stay every night, So I am hoping the roads don't get too bad if they do release him. He says to tell everyone hello !
